One of the questions that we get asked the most before you come on holidays to Formentera is ‘what kind of vehicle do you recommend to get around and get to know the island’ and our answer always starts by asking more questions: What kind of experience are you looking for and who are you traveling with? Where will you be staying and how long will you stay?

There is nothing like discovering Formentera by car or motorbike, for comfort, freedom of movement and use of time. The choice of vehicle is equally or more important, for a good holiday, than the choice of accommodation. It needs to be comfortable, you need to feel good while driving it, it must work to perfection, be clean and safe to drive.

What type of vehicle is best suited to you on your holidays?

There are several important factors to consider:

1. The type of trip you want to do, the experience you are looking for. Coming to spend a few relaxing days, without intending to move around too much,  is not the same than coming with the intention of discovering the island from beginning to end and accessing its most secret corners.
2. How long are you planning to stay? Is it a short getaway, a few days? Only a couple of hours because you’re staying on the neighboring island of Ibiza or perhaps you’re staying longer and you have rented a house for several weeks.
3. Where is your accommodation? Many times accessing the accommodation means you must drive on dirt roads, also to visit some interesting points or get access to some hidden coves.
4. How many people travel and what are they like? Core needs vary enormously depending if you come alone or with your partner, with friends, with small children or with elderly, for example.

After asking yourself all the above questions, you will know which vehicle suits you best. Whether a 50cc scooter type motorcycle, a Vespa or a 125cc motorcycle with a trunk. Or maybe a minivan type car, a 4×4 or an electric car.
