Discover and enjoy Formentera in one day

It can be said that Formentera, with 83 km2 of surface, is a small island, but touring it on a single day is not an easy task if we want to enjoy it in peace.

The ideal thing would be to have had a long weekend to discover its most beautiful beaches and special corners. But it’s not always possible to spend the night on the island, prices in summer are high and out of season most hotels and apartments are closed.

That’s why a large number of visitors arrive early morning from Ibiza, ready to enjoy Formentera to the fullest in a single day. The trick to squeeze the most out of every second on the island is to get up early and catch the first or second ferry in the morning.

As soon as you arrive at the port, it is best to rent a motorcycle to be able to travel every corner and every cove and lose yourself on the roads.

Put your helmet we’re on the road!

02062016-_mg_9025We’ll start by discovering the Cap de Barbería, to connect with the island from the first minute. The narrow road that reaches the lighthouse is a unique image that will make you feel like a movie star. Look for the cave next to it and enter it to go to the cliff then and stop to view the beautiful landscape for a few minutes.

We continue the tour to the lighthouse of La Mola, on the other side of the island. The motorcycle tour is a marvel, passing through different landscapes and with one of the best views of the island from above. When you arrive you are deeply struck by that steep cliff: a perfect place to meditate or simply sit and the sea, the birds and the lizards that inhabit the area.
After these moments of peace, it’s time to return to the village of Es Caló.

It is a beautiful village in which to replenish strength before immersing ourselves in the hypnotic waters of the island. There are several shops, bars and supermarkets where you can have a snack or get supplies to spend the rest of the day at the beach.

The beach of Es Caló, as well as the village, is quiet and beautiful at the time, so it is a good idea to take a bath. If the water is calm it is incredible, with colours so magical that they seem out of a dream.

If there is something true about Formentera is that it is one of the most beautiful places in the world, a turquoise paradise with white sand beaches and transparent waters.
And if we could have all this in one place that would be the beach of Illetas, our last stop before catching the ferry back.

Make sure you have enough time to enjoy it without rushes or worries. Just walk, swim, dive, sunbathe, go back to the water, play with the sand, just forget your problems and play like a happy child.

Formentera is without a doubt the best medicine.
