Today we want to tell you about La Mola, an area that you should not miss when you come on holidays.<\/p>\n

El Pilar de La Mola<\/h4>\n

We\u2019ll start talking about the village itself, where you can find all the beauty and tranquility of the island.<\/p>\n

It is the furthest village and its location, the highest point of Formentera, mean there is less\u00a0 tourism than in other areas, there are but a few shops and restaurants. Surrounded by imposing cliffs overlooking the sea, near the village we can find the highest point of the island,\u00a0 192 metres above sea-level.<\/p>\n

The lighthouse of La Mola<\/h4>\n

It is located on the edge of a large cliff and is a perfect place to bask in the solitude and tranquility while enjoying the sunset. To reach this idyllic place you must walk a long narrow road, with a very picturesque landscape and the lighthouse framed on the horizon.<\/p>\n

Right there you will find a monument to the French writer Jules Verne since Formentera is placed as the setting for his novel ‘Hector Servadac’.<\/p>\n

If you come at the end of June, on the 24th the San Juan festivity is celebrated during the early hours of the morning and it is a tradition to wait for the sunrise precisely here at La Mola.<\/p>\n

The mill of La Mola<\/h4>\n

It is an old mill called ‘Es Mol\u00ed Vell’, one of the typical flour mills of Formentera, from the 18th century and very well preserved.<\/p>\n

It is definitely worth a visit, although there are a few more mills around the island, this is one you shouldn\u2019t miss.<\/p>\n

The market of La Mola<\/h4>\n

The ideal place to buy a holiday souvenir. It is a craft market with a great hippie influence where you can find original items that are manufactured and sold only on our island.<\/p>\n

All the area of La Mola has a very different landscape from the rest of the island because it has a more rainy climate and where there is more agriculture, while you\u2019re driving around \u00a0you will see many stone walls on the sidelines to protect the crops of the strong wind that blows some times of the year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
